The exhibition at the Lahti Art Museum is Henttonen’s largest so far. He has produced a new series of photographs, Twisted Tales – Road to Hope, especially for this exhibition. The series will also be featured at an exhibition in Leipzig this autumn. The inspiration for the new series, for which the photos were shot in Los Angeles, was the dark, ominous-looking houses that Henttonen had photographed for his Silent Night series. In Twisted Tales – Road to Hope, slow photography and carefully planned shots have given way to a more spontaneous approach that focuses on personal experiences and feelings. As is typical of Henttonen’s style, the visual language of the new series is characterised by strong narratives and a melancholic feel. The exhibition in Lahti features both series, which together paint a picture of a versatile and ambitious artist who is always looking for new ways to express himself.
All pictures in the Twisted Tales – Road to Hope exhibition are archival pigment prints,
printed on Hahnenmühle Bamboo fine art paper. Pictures are mounted on aluminium and framed with handmade high quality wooden frames.
The exhibition is opened at Lahti Art Museum, Finland, 17.10.2014-18.1.2015
